What are the key points to pay attention to in mid-frequency spot welding machines?

When using a mid-frequency spot welding machine, it’s important to pay attention to the three major elements of spot welding. This not only increases welding efficiency but also ensures high-quality welds. Let’s share the three major elements of spot welding:

Electrode Pressure:

Applying appropriate pressure between the electrodes creates a common fusion zone between the base materials, forming a joint (fusion core) upon cooling. However, excessive current can lead to problems such as spattering of the fusion zone and electrode sticking to the base material (bonding). Additionally, it can cause excessive deformation of the welded area.

Current Flow Time:

This refers to the duration for which welding current flows. Changing the current flow time under fixed current values can result in different maximum temperatures reached at the welding site, leading to variations in the size of the joint formed. Generally, selecting a lower current value and extending the current flow time not only leads to a loss of heat but also unnecessary heating of areas. Especially when welding small parts of materials with good thermal conductivity like aluminum alloys, it’s advisable to use higher welding currents for the shortest time possible.

Appropriate Welding Cycle:

Using a welding current with gradual rise and fall can serve a preheating and gradual cooling function. Specific stepped or saddle-shaped pressure change curves can provide higher forging pressure. A highly accurate controller ensures the accuracy of each program, especially the application time of the forging pressure. Such a spot welding cycle is crucial for preventing defects like spattering, shrinkage holes, and cracks.
