Why Medium Frequency Spot Welding Machines Need Cooling Water?

During operation, medium frequency spot welding machines have heated components such as welding transformers, electrode arms, electrodes, conductive plates, ignition pipes, or crystal valve switch. These components, which generate concentrated heat, require water cooling.

When designing these components, besides ensuring that they meet their own requirements, consideration should also be given to the water cooling system and the cooling water circulation. Improper design or processing of the cooling water circuit in some welding transformers can lead to burnout during use.

The cooling water system is a crucial part of medium frequency welding machines. Equipment with a cooling water circuit must have the water supply connected before starting operation.

Regarding the distribution of cooling water, the welding transformer needs a separate circuit. The upper electrode and upper conductive plate are connected in one circuit, while the lower electrode and lower conductive rail are connected in another circuit. The ignition pipe or crystal valve switch is interconnected in a separate circuit. These branch circuits are connected to the centralized inlet and outlet pipes. When connecting the water pipe joints with hoses or steel (copper) pipes, they must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage, which is especially important for welding transformers and crystal valve switch.

The connections between the inlet and outlet pipes and each circuit are generally made using hoses, which are made of fabric-reinforced rubber hoses or nylon pipes reinforced with nylon threads. Common pipe diameters are Ф10, Ф15, and Ф20mm, which can be smaller for electrode parts. All hose arrangements should be neat, visually appealing, and securely fixed to the equipment.
